Mereto di Tomba, 17 September 2026 – Research, innovation and expertise have found a new home. With the inauguration of Biofarma Labs, Biofarma Group is strengthening its ability to develop knowledge and expertise in-house, creating a dedicated environment for research and the development of new solutions.
Made possible with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Government, Biofarma Labs is founded on an open and collaborative vision: a meeting point for industry, academia and the research community, designed to foster dialogue and knowledge exchange with companies, start-ups and scientific partners.
Located at the Biofarma 2 facility within the Group's Headquarters, the Centre is designed to support product development across the entire process, from laboratory formulation to industrial scale-up, and from prototype development through to testing. State-of-the-art technologies and equipment complete an environment built around high standards of safety, quality and sustainability.
“We want this Centre to become a meeting point for business, research and academia, with the ability to attract expertise, generate knowledge and turn it into tangible innovation.”
With these words, Alberto Urli, CEO of Biofarma Group, captures the ambition behind Biofarma Labs: to strengthen the Group's know-how and capacity for innovation, while also contributing to the creation of value for the local community.
The choice of Mereto di Tomba was no coincidence. It is here that Biofarma began building its story almost forty years ago, and it is here that the Group has chosen to continue investing in its future.
This enduring connection with the local area translates into a tangible responsibility towards the community, as Germano Scarpa, Chairman of Biofarma Group, explains:
“Biofarma was born in this land almost forty years ago, and this land has played an important part in our history. This is why we believe that a company's success only truly matters when it also creates value for the community that made it possible. Because the future is built by sharing knowledge and investing in people.”
